The introduction of content such as the Top 25 Attractions, Road Trips and Road Movies has been very successful and among the most visited pages on our website.

We are focused on staying ahead of the digital curve to meet visitor expectations. The Nova Scotia Facebook page is growing in popularity with more than 183,000 likes.  It is consistently rated among the most engaging sites in Canada. Our other social media channels have expanded to include Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest. In April 2014 we received a Canadian E-Tourism Award for Best User Generated Content for our work on Instagram. Make the most out of Tourism Nova Scotia's consumer digital channels by leveraging our online marketing opportunities listed below.

New Photos on

Strong, compelling images increase the chance a user will click on your operator listing and purchase your product or service.

Website users love visuals – they want to see an experience before they purchase.  Take advantage of this opportunity to reach the 3.4 million users who visit each year.

On, operator business listings showcase larger images to help sell your product and motivate the visitor to book, call or click through to your website. We encourage all accommodations, attractions, outdoor activities, tour operators, trails, artisan studios and galleries to take advantage of this new opportunity and to send us new, larger images for use on your operator listings.   

All photos can be emailed to include the name of your business/attraction in the subject line.

Photos will be accepted at any time but due to the volume of photos we receive, will be posted in the order in which they were received.


  • All photos must be in .jpg format.
  • Ideal photo resolution/quality is 140 dpi.
  • Photo with portrait orientations must be a minimum of 1500 px in width.
  • Photos with landscape orientations must be a minimum of 2000 px in width.
  • Requirement: minimum of one (1) photo and a maximum of ten (10)
  • Tourism Nova Scotia staff will crop your photos to ensure the best possible photo is displayed in your listing. 

Free Opportunities

As a Nova Scotia tourism operator, you can feature your accommodations, attractions, festivals and events, travel packages and deals, experiences, artisan studios and galleries, outdoor activities, or touring listings on at no cost.

A basic listing is provided when you register for the Doers and Dreamers Travel Guide; however, you can maximize your listing by taking advantage of the following free marketing tools.

Travel Packages & Deals
Feature your travel packages and travel deals in the travel package/travel deal section on by registering for an account. Your package/deal will be linked to your operator listing and, has the potential to be used in other online promotional activities such as email campaigns and online advertisements.

Please note: Travel packages may be posted for up to one year on Please ensure your travel packages are renewed in advance of the expiration date as packages are automatically removed from after one year.

Share your tourism event with our visitors by listing it on  Registration and listing information is listed within the Festivals and Events section of the website.

Social Media Links
Connect with visitors via social media channels by linking to Trip Advisor, Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, YouTube, blogs, etc. within your operator listing.

The 'Book Now' button: linking to or to your business' booking engine

Tourism operators using secure online booking engines that allow them to take bookings online can choose to have the 'Book now' button appear on their listing that will link directly to their preferred booking system. To have the book now button activated on your business listing on, please email the name of your business along with the booking engine URL to

Give visitors a sneak peak of your tourism experience with the use of video. Simply send us a link to your YouTube video(s) or channel and we’ll connect it within your operator listing.

Social Media Program

We are continuing to build our social media program to increase Nova Scotia’s share in the global online travel conversation. This includes continuing to build our presence on popular social networking sites such as Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Trip Advisor, Pinterest, Instagram, and Flickr, as well as promoting our core and niche experiences through blogs hosted on
