Tourism Strategy

In 2014, the One Nova Scotia Commission issued a challenge to the entire provincial tourism industry to double annual revenues to $4 billion by 2024. Tourism Nova Scotia was created as a private sector-led Crown Corporation in recognition of this challenge. We were given a mandate to drive tourism growth in the province and foster a more globally competitive tourism industry through innovative, strategic marketing and sector development initiatives.

Tourism Nova Scotia then began a strategic planning process to define our role in helping the tourism industry achieve its audacious goal. This work built on the industry-wide strategy developed in 2013, called A Tourism Strategy for Nova Scotia, that outlines how industry and government will work together to drive growth.

These strategies exist hand-in-hand. Tourism Nova Scotia’s 2016 strategy, that defines how we’ll do our part to help double tourism revenues, follows and expands on the 2013 document’s key strategic pillars. It outlines our role in helping to grow the industry and working towards the prosperity Nova Scotia will enjoy by doubling tourism revenues.
