Visitor Information Centres

The Provincial Visitor Services team plays a key role in the overall tourism strategy. They are the frontline representatives for Tourism Nova Scotia, working directly with tourism industry operators and visitors. On a daily basis they recommend the memorable products and experiences that will inspire people to enjoy the best of our beautiful province again and again. The team provides expert knowledge and friendly, personalized service to give our visitors the most incredible and memorable experience of Nova Scotia.

The Visitor Services section of Tourism Nova Scotia is responsible for the six provincial visitor information centres, the Tourism Contact Centre, and the Distribution Centre. During peak season over 80 employees work for Visitor Services.

Provincial Visitor Information Centres (VICs)

Tourism Nova Scotia acts on behalf of government in the management of the six Provincial Visitor Information Centres across Nova Scotia. There are seasonal VICs in Yarmouth, Peggy’s Cove and Port Hastings, and year-round VICs in Amherst, at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport, and on the Halifax Waterfront.

At each Provincial VIC, Travel Counsellors are responsible for greeting visitors, answering questions, giving directions providing information, literature and other resources, creating itineraries and making recommendations on products and services for their region and across Nova Scotia. VICs are an important asset in providing excellent customer service and ensuring that visitors are able to make the most of their time in Nova Scotia.

Nova Scotia Contact Centre

The Tourism Contact Centre, based in Yarmouth, offers year-round service. Along with assisting visitors and potential visitors with travel inquiries, travel planning and literature requests to our 1-800-565-0000 number, staff are equipped to answer emails and direct chats via our website. They provide visitors with outstanding service, helping to make their travel planning easy and seamless, and inspiring more visitors to come to Nova Scotia and enjoy the best that Nova Scotia has to offer.
