Business Photo Tips Using the Camera in Your Pocket

Thanks to the growing advancement of technology, photography is accessible to every type of business these days. Most people have a smart phone with a camera in their pocket. And some of the newer models take great photos.

There is no substitute to investing in high quality, professional photographs to capture images to use in your marketing material. But, as an amateur photographer equipped with the right information, you can create your own photographs to deliver compelling images. Your customers will appreciate the effort you put into developing your visual content.

We asked Geordie Mott, the owner of Picture Perfect Tours in Halifax and a professional photographer, for the key photography tips he shares with guests from around the world, whether they have a high-end camera or a smart phone. No matter the device or skill level, Geordie says these five tips will help everyone create better images.

5) Spend On Learning, Not Gear

Hard work, patience, and playfulness will allow you to create pictures no matter what camera you use. Spend your time on learning before spending money on camera gear. According to Geordie, the Halifax Public Libraries offers free access to Lynda.com when you sign up for a library card, and they have almost 700 photography lessons available online. “Or even better,” he says, “take a tour with us and learn the basics in a hands-on classroom that just happens to be outdoors at some of the most beautiful spots in Nova Scotia.”
