Check out Google Trekker Footage of Nova Scotia

In summer 2016, Tourism Nova Scotia partnered with Google to use one of only two Google Trekker backpacks in Canada to capture some of the outstanding off-road adventures awaiting visitors in Nova Scotia. From top-rated golf courses and award winning vineyards to waterfronts, lighthouses, beaches and popular Provincial Parks and trails, two Tourism Nova Scotia trekkers explored Nova Scotia with the 52lb Google trekker backpack… and now you can see what was captured!

The 15, 5 megapixel cameras contained within the backpack snapped still photos every 2.5 seconds, capturing the surroundings in 360 degrees. These photos were then ‘sewn’ together at Google headquarters in California and now allow anyone in the world with an internet connection to ‘walk’ Cabot Cliffs golf course, along Martinique Beach, through rows of vines at Petite Riviere Vineyards, and many other popular sites in Nova Scotia, simply by using Street View in Google Maps.

This opportunity will help increase awareness of Nova Scotia’s incredible outdoor experiences and influence travellers to visit Nova Scotia.
