A new video from Tourism Nova Scotia’s social marketing team is a big hit on Facebook!

The “Ten Fun Facts About Nova Scotia” video has been shared more than 23,000 times, making it our most-shared organic content to date.  The video has been viewed 950, 000 times, including 614, 000 unique views.

“Ten Fun Facts about Nova Scotia” uses content captured through our Inspiring Content Program and World-class Experience EXCELLerator Program to highlight ten aspects of our province, and showcases how visitors can experience those things during a vacation to Nova Scotia.  For example, the video states that Nova Scotia has over 13,300 kilometres of coastline, and demonstrates some of the ways visitors can enjoy our shores, such as surfing.

The video was created to encourage brand advocacy through social media by appealing to Nova Scotians’ pride of place.  Nova Scotians are our best ambassadors, and they have been actively sharing the video. We know that when they share our content with their networks, we can extend our reach to audiences around the world, especially if these ambassadors are currently living outside of Nova Scotia.

We are also seeing great engagement from visitors who have travelled the province and loved their stay, and from people who are looking forward to visiting.

The video also delivers on Tourism Nova Scotia’s marketing strategy by showcasing some of Nova Scotia’s unique features and world class experiences and demonstrates ways to fill a Nova Scotia vacation.

Following best practices for Facebook, the video is cut to square for easy viewing on mobile, and includes text because we know that many people watch videos on Facebook with the sound turned off.

The video has been so successful, that we are now using it in Facebook ads in Ontario and Northeastern United States. Destination Canada has also shared the video on several of its pages, including in the United Kingdom and Australia.

Watch the video and keep sharing it to give travellers ten more reasons to visit Nova Scotia.
