Get Ready for Summer with These Five Tips to Freshen Up Your Online Profile

Thursday, May 30, 2019

This time of year, many people are planning their summer vacations and most travellers will be going online to make their bookings. Your online presence is like a digital store front, and you want to look your best! An up-to-date online presence helps build trust with your customers and is key to making a great first impression.

Make sure your online business profile is fresh for the busy summer season with some digital spring cleaning. Here are some tips to get you started.

1. Freshen up your business website – A strong business website has up-to-date information about your operating hours, amenities, packages and contact information, as well as photos that showcase the best of what you have to offer.  Make sure all information is updated and any new features or offerings are on display. If you don’t have one yet, add an online booking platform to your site to help you close the sale.

2. Update your NovaScotia.com listings – Check your business listing on Nova Scotia’s official trip planning site and let us know if you need to update your business hours, contact information or social media pages, or add new photos and videos. Send updates to novascotia@novascotia.ca. You can also add your package and event listings for 2019 through the online Partner Portal.

3. Create or update your Google business listing – Ensure customers find you when they search your business or businesses like yours through Google Search or Maps. Claim your free Google Business listing with Google My Business, and then keep it up to date with an accurate description of your business, current hours and contact information, and engaging photos.

4. Claim Your TripAdvisor Listing - TripAdvisor has 455 million visitors to its website each month. A free business listing is a great way to reach visitors and collect reviews that can help build your business reputation. Create or claim your listing and add your amenities, photos and other business details that paint a clear picture of what you offer visitors and help you stand out.

5. Spruce up your social media channels – Update your profile and cover photos and let your followers know what’s new for 2019. Get your social media content plan ready for the season. If you’re planning on doing some advertising on Facebook, check out our free webinar to help you prepare.
