Visitor Experience Strategy Coming for Halifax Harbour Islands

Tourism Nova Scotia is partnering with Develop Nova Scotia to create a visitor experience strategy for Georges Island and McNabs Island through the Tourism Revitalization of Icons Program (TRIP).

On Tuesday, February 12, the province announced that $100,000 will be invested in a strategy to enhance visitor access and experiences on the Halifax Harbour islands. This is part of the $1.5 million announced in July for the Halifax waterfront through the program.

Develop Nova Scotia will lead this project in consultation with property owners, management agencies, island users, and visitors.  The public will have the opportunity to share their ideas through pop-ups and an online survey.

TRIP is an infrastructure funding program administered by Tourism Nova Scotia on behalf of the province. The aim of the program is to revitalize Nova Scotia’s most compelling tourism sites and create opportunities for private businesses to develop new excursions and experiences. The provincial government, is investing $6 million over the next three years through TRIP to improve visitor experiences at five iconic tourism sites, including the Halifax waterfront, Peggy’s Cove, Lunenburg waterfront, the Bay of Fundy including Annapolis Royal, and the Cabot Trail. 

Develop Nova Scotia is also leading the planning and implementation of tourism infrastructure enhancements at Peggy’s Cove through TRIP.  Further information about partners and projects for the other iconic sites will shared when confirmed.
