Entice Local and Regional Travellers with Winter and Spring Travel Packages

Thursday, November 12, 2020

Promote your packages on and entice local and Maritime travellers to explore close to home this winter and spring.

Tourism Nova Scotia has ongoing marketing initiatives aimed at driving as much tourism activity as safely possible from within the Atlantic bubble. Through the winter and spring, we’ll be inviting locals and Maritimers to take in the incredible experiences available in Nova Scotia!

Our advertising directs people to where they can discover travel packages offered by Nova Scotia businesses.

Now is the time to expand your sales opportunities by creating packages with strong appeal to Nova Scotia and Maritime travellers. By listing your packages, you are increasing your business profile and awareness of what you offer travellers. You can promote your packages on at no cost.

Add your packages by logging on to Partner Portal. If you don’t have a Partner Portal account, contact Stephanie Wadden, Digital Marketing Coordinator, at to register. Be sure to include engaging photos to help catch travellers’ attention.

What is a Travel Package?

A travel package combines two or more tourism activities, experiences, or products for one single price to make it convenient and easy for travellers to purchase those things and plan their trip. Packages can also provide travellers with inspiration and easy access to new places or experiences in Nova Scotia, to encourage travel throughout the province. This is important, as research indicates that while local and regional visitors will naturally gravitate towards familiar places and experiences, they will welcome opportunities to discover aspects of Nova Scotia that are new to them.

We encourage you to be creative! How can you feature flavours, stories, experiences and places uniquely available in Nova Scotia, from local food and drink to coastal adventures and special ways to experience our beautiful historic waterfronts? Consider creating packages connected to activities and events in your region such as:

  • Holiday gifting and shopping
  • Overnight holiday escapes and day trips
  • Evergreen Festival
  • Couples’ getaways (substitution for sun destinations)
  • Romance/Valentines Day
  • Dine Around Halifax and winter culinary
  • March break experiences for families

Could you could create a package to combine multiple elements from your business, such as food, a guided tour, hands-on program, cultural connection, outdoor activity, or accommodations or partner with other tourism operators to deliver a package? A package designed for Maritime travellers can vary in duration from a few hours to overnight or up to three nights. For example, a package could include an overnight stay combined with a local meal. Year-round businesses, and seasonal businesses able to close the sale all year long, can consider selling packages or gift certificates to be redeemed in the Spring/Summer of 2021 and beyond.
