Amherst Visitor Information Centre Celebrates 100 Seasons

Tuesday, August 13, 2024

This year marks a remarkable milestone for the Nova Scotia tourism industry as we celebrate 100 years of dedicated service from our Amherst Visitor Information Centre location. The Amherst VIC staff team kicked off the celebrations of our work on August 16, with photo displays, vintage maps of Nova Scotia, and a banner to celebrate 100 years of welcoming visitors.

According to the Nova Scotia Archives, the VIC began when the Province opened a "Traffic Census and Information Bureau" at the border on June 9, 1924 as part of the "Old Home Summer" for the promotion of tourism in Nova Scotia.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the team members, past and present, who have contributed to the legacy of our famous Nova Scotia hospitality by offering exceptional service and a warm welcome to visitors arriving in our province!

For decades, visitors have been welcomed by pipers at the Amherst VIC.
Thank you to the pipers who have worked with our team over the years!
