Accommodations Demand

Accommodations demand data is sourced through TNS’ accommodations database (primarily traditional fixed-roof accommodations). The TNS data is supplemented with third-party data to cover non-traditional accommodations (e.g. Airbnb).

2026 Room Nights Sold

Nova Scotia accommodations operators reported 968,000 traditional room nights sold in the first five months of 2026 (up 6% from 2025).

According to AirDNA data, there were 295,000 room nights booked in non-traditional accommodations in Nova Scotia between January and June 2026 (up 6% from 2025).

2025 Room Nights Sold

July and August record the highest sales of traditional and non-traditional  room nights during the year.

Accommodations Average Daily Rate

Accommodations average daily rate (ADR) is a measurement of hotel pricing. ADR measures the average daily rate charged per occupied room, per day. ADR data includes hotels with 20+ rooms and is not reflective of smaller accommodations. Reporting is for the province overall, Halifax area, and the rest of Nova Scotia

2026 Accommodations Average Daily Rate

According to the latest data from CBRE, the average room rate for Nova Scotia accommodations in the month of June 2026 was $257, a 16% increase from June 2025.  For the period of January to June 2026, the average room rate was $203, a 9% increase compared with the same period in 2025.

The average room rate from June 2026 in the Halifax Regional Municipality was $292 (up 19% from June 2025). For the same month, the average room rate of $181 in the rest of Nova Scotia was up 8% compared with 2025.

The average room rate from January to June 2026 in the Halifax Regional Municipality was $220 (up 10% from 2025). For the same period, the average room rate of $162 in the rest of Nova Scotia was up 7% compared with the first six months of 2025.

2025 Accommodations Average Daily Rate

The average room rate for Nova Scotia accommodations was $205 in 2025, an increase of 7% from 2024.
The highest average room rate of $253 was recorded in August 2025, while January 2025 saw the lowest average room rate of $156.

This difference in average daily rate between the Halifax area and the rest of Nova Scotia ranges from a low of $20 in January to a high of $81 in September.
