Be Part of the North American Indigenous Games as a Volunteer

Wednesday, October 5, 2022

The North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) are coming to Nova Scotia from July 15-23, 2023. NAIG will bring together more than 5,000 athletes, coaches, and team staff from 756+ Indigenous Nations celebrating, sharing and reconnecting through sport and culture. To make this the best games yet, NAIG is seeking the help of 3,000 volunteers.

By volunteering at the games, you will be a part of the largest multi-sport and cultural event in Atlantic Canada and have the opportunity to form new connections, see firsthand the impact of the games, and to learn about Indigenous cultures from across Turtle Island. Volunteers will receive a uniform kit, orientation, cultural education and role-specific training, an opportunity to welcome 756 Nations to Mi’kma’ki, and free access to Halifax Transit services during the week of the games. Volunteers will participate in both cultural awareness and role-specific training prior to the games.

There are a wide variety of volunteer roles, including opportunities to support both during planning for the games and during the games in July.
