The Tourism Industry Association of Nova Scotia (TIANS) created the Nova Scotia Pineapple Awards recognizes individuals in the tourism industry who demonstrate extraordinary service to enrich a visitor's stay.

Legend of the Pineapple

A centuries-old symbol of greeting and generous hospitality, the Pineapple is native to South America and was conveyed to Europe by the early explorers. It is placed a pineapple on a porch or by an entrance after long voyages that announces to all "our voyage is over, our door is open, food and drink for everyone!"
