Tourism Nova Scotia announced new requirements for business listings on NovaScotia.com last August to ensure listings include the information travellers seek and need to make purchase or travel decisions. The deadline to meet these requirements is January 31, 2019 or your listing will be deactivated until updates have been made.
The new requirements are:
1) Email Address: All operators must provide an e-mail address so visitors can contact you. Some operators have provided an e-mail address for receiving information from Tourism Nova Scotia but have not indicated an e-mail address to be published in their business listing. If that is the case, you can either give permission to publish the e-mail address on file or provide an alternative e-mail address. Submit your preferred email address to Tourism Nova Scotia at novascotia@novascotia.ca.
2) One Photo: All operators must provide a minimum of one photo to include on your business listing on NovaScotia.com. Effective business listings contain photos that grab attention and let travellers know what they can expect from your property or experience. You can submit up to 10 photos in jpg format and landscape orientation. Photos cannot include text or graphic overlay. Send photo(s) to novascotia.com@gmail.com with your business name in the subject line.
3) TripAdvisor Widget: A TripAdvisor widget has been added to NovaScotia.com to provide visitors with peer reviews for products listed on the website. Accommodation and campground operators are required to provide a link to their TripAdvisor page so the widget can be added to their listings. We encourage all operators to take advantage of the TripAdvisor widget to share customer feedback about your business. Submit your TripAdvisor ID to Tourism Nova Scotia at novascotia@novascotia.ca.
Please review your listing and submit outstanding information by January 31 at 4 p.m. If you manage multiple listings on NovaScotia.com, please ensure each listing is updated with the required information. If we do not receive the required information, your listing will be considered incomplete and deactivated on NovaScotia.com and will not be included in the 2020 Doers & Dreamers Travel Guide.
Resources to help you create or claim your TripAdvisor listing are available on our website, and on TripAdvisor Insights.
