This year is off to another strong start in tourism recovery for Nova Scotia.
According to statistics gathered by Tourism Nova Scotia, Nova Scotia welcomed 560,000 visitors between January and May 2023. Visitation in the first five months is up 52% (192,000 more visitors) compared with the same period last year, although still down 10% (61,000 fewer visitors) compared with 2019.
Most of the decline relative to 2019 is a result of fewer visitors from Atlantic Canada, the largest source of visitors to Nova Scotia. On the other hand, visitation from Ontario and overseas is up over 2019 levels so far this year.
