Modernized Tourism Indicators Framework

Thursday, September 3, 2026

Tourism Nova Scotia has modernized its tourism indicators framework to provide a more comprehensive understanding of tourism's impact in Nova Scotia.

Tourism indicators (or metrics) help assess the overall health of Nova Scotia's tourism industry. They provide insights into industry performance, visitor activity, and trends over time, helping inform decision-making and support tourism businesses, organizations, and communities.

The modernized tourism indicators framework retires the visitor enumeration process, maintains several existing indicators, and introduces new ones such as labour market information. Together, indicators such as tourism revenues, employment, accommodation demand, and visitor dispersion provide a more complete picture of tourism's impact in Nova Scotia.
