This September, Halifax will welcome a new marquee event that is expected to draw visitors from across Atlantic Canada and beyond. NHL STREET Harbour Fest, presented by the National Hockey League (NHL) and National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA), will take place September 12–13 at the Emera Oval.
The two-day festival-style event will feature 3-on-3 street hockey competition for youth and adults of all skill levels, while also offering food, music, fan experiences and interactive activities designed to create a vibrant community atmosphere.
For Nova Scotia’s tourism industry, the event represents an opportunity to showcase the province to visiting players, families and hockey fans.
Organizers selected Halifax as the launch location for NHL STREET Harbour Fest because of the region’s strong hockey culture, growing participation in grassroots programs and reputation as a welcoming host destination. The event will also serve as the kickoff for a broader series of NHL STREET festivals planned across North America.
With hockey deeply woven into Nova Scotia’s identity and many NHL stars calling the province home, Harbour Fest is expected to generate excitement both on and off the pavement. Tourism operators are encouraged to monitor event updates and consider ways to engage visitors and extend their Nova Scotia experience throughout the weekend.
