Nova Scotia has been in the news thanks to distilleries, wineries, restaurants, and golf courses that are raising the bar on excellence! Awards and media coverage help raise awareness of Nova Scotia as a world-class destination, and let travellers know that we offer the best of the best.

Here are some of the recent accolades and stories about Nova Scotia’s tourism industry:

World’s Greatest Golf Courses


 
Three Cape Breton Island golf courses landed in Golf Digests list of the 100 Greatest Golf Courses in the World. Cabot Cliffs (11), Cabot Links (35), and Highland Links (76) are considered among the best golf courses in the world, according to the leading  American magazine, which provides advice on how, what, and where to play golf.

Canada’s Best Resorts


US News and World Report named Fox Harb’r one of Best Resorts in Canada. This article is part of the usnews.com “Best” series, which has been providing consumer rankings for 30 years.

Most Romantic Restaurants


 
If you want to plan a special date night, make your reservation for The Canteen or The Press Gang. These restaurants are considered two of Canada’s Most Romantic Restaurants based on more than 500,000 restaurant reviews submitted by diners using OpenTable, an online real-time reservation and review platform.


Best Cycling Holidays


The Lonely Planet suggests exploring the Cabot Trail on two-wheels this spring or fall. The iconic travel guide named Cape Breton Island one of the Ten Best Places for a Cycling Holiday in 2020.

Canadian Artisan Spirit Awards


The Canadian Artisan Spirit Competition celebrates the best artisan spirits from across Canada. Halifax Distilling Co, Compass Distillers, Ironworks Distillery, Raging Crow Distillery, and Barrelling Tide Distillery all took home awards this year. Notably, Ironworks received Best in Class for Branding for its Around the World Rum, and Halifax Distilling received Best in Class for Liqueur for its JD Shore Rum Cream.


Sold-Out Dining Experience


Flying Apron Inn & Cookery’s Dining on the Ocean Floor experience will once again be offered on five dates this July and August, and this year’s entire season sold out within two minutes. CBC News was there to capture the excitement as operators Chris and Melissa Velden took calls and booked reservations for the dining experience, which was created in 2016 through the award-winning World-class Experience EXCELLerator Program.
