The Halifax Airport Visitor Information Centre (VIC) has received Rainbow Registered accreditation to help foster inclusivity in the tourism industry. Rainbow Registered is a national accreditation from CGLCC, Canada's 2SLGBTQI+ Chamber of Commerce.

The Rainbow Registered designation lets people know the business or organization meets a stringent set of standards to ensure 2SLGBTQI+ customers feel safe, welcomed, and accepted. The evaluation report noted that the VIC team “has worked tirelessly to demonstrate that they are a safe space and proven ally for the community.”

The Halifax Airport VIC is the first of our provincially operated VICs to go through the accreditation process, and plans are in place for the other four VICs to apply for accreditation. Congratulations to the team at the Halifax Airport VIC! 

Receiving Rainbow Registered accreditation enhances a tourism operator's reputation by demonstrating commitment to 2SLGBTQI+ inclusivity, attracting a growing and loyal market. It also provides marketing advantages, differentiates from competitors, and opens opportunities for networking, partnerships, and increased bookings. Currently there are 28 organizations and businesses in Nova Scotia that have achieved their Rainbow Registered accreditation.
