Hosting large-scale international tourism events like Rendez-vous Canada (RVC) are huge opportunities for destinations everywhere, but especially for Halifax and Nova Scotia. As a destination on the rise that has grown for four years in a row, we need to keep up the momentum and leverage the increasing traveller awareness and interest in our province.
With a record 1,875+ delegates registered for RVC 2018 staying in hotels, and enjoying our restaurants, pubs, shops and experiences, we expect local businesses will see an immediate boost to their bottom lines. Over the longer-term we expect more Nova Scotia vacations to be sold by tour operators and travel agents around the world.
Tourism Nova Scotia would like to thank the following funding partners for helping us make RVC and these economic opportunities possible.
The Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency
The Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) works to create opportunities for economic growth in Atlantic Canada by helping businesses become more competitive, innovative and productive, by working with diverse communities to develop and diversify local economies, and by championing the strengths of Atlantic Canada.
The Atlantic Canadian Agreement on Tourism
The Atlantic Canada Agreement on Tourism (ACAT) in support of the Atlantic Canada Tourism Partnership (ACTP) brings together ACOA, the provincial departments responsible for tourism in New Brunswick , Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island and the four provincial tourism industry associations to grow the tourism industry in Atlantic Canada, which today represents $4.89 billion annually for the region’s economy and 57,000 full time equivalent jobs for Atlantic Canadians.
The ACAT expands the industry through two research-driven marketing campaigns, one promoting the Atlantic Canadian provinces in the United States and a second in key overseas markets. The ACAT markets Atlantic Canada with major consumer advertising campaigns, travel trade programs and media relations activities.
Discover Halifax
Discover Halifax is a non-profit, membership-based marketing and sales organization in partnership with the Halifax regional government, the Hotel Association of Nova Scotia and participating industry members. Since its inception in 2002, Discover Halifax’s goal is to promote Halifax as a destination of choice for leisure and business travellers.
RVC 2018 will be held at the Halifax Convention Centre from May 13 to 16, 2018.
