For Small Business Week, we’re celebrating tourism entrepreneurs across Nova Scotia and the passion they bring to creating memorable visitor experiences. We asked Mac Graham, owner and operator of Cape Breton Backcountry Adventures what makes working in Nova Scotia’s tourism industry rewarding and about a recent experience that has been especially memorable.

What do you find most rewarding about being an entrepreneur in Nova Scotia’s tourism industry?

"The most rewarding part is showing people “my corner of the world,” especially those who have never visited Cape Breton Island or perhaps even experienced a small rural community before. I love seeing how our tours change the way people think about Cape Breton Island and help them understand the people, the land and the stories that make this place so special."

Can you tell us about a recent memorable experience with a guest? What made that interaction special for you?

"One of the most memorable recent experiences has been the enthusiastic response to my Cape Breton Leaf Watch campaign. I have received positive feedback from people across Canada and many other parts of the world. Seeing people connect with the island through the videos, ask questions and become excited about visiting Cape Breton has been incredibly rewarding." - Mac Graham, owner and operator, Cape Breton Backcountry Adventures
