For Small Business Week, we’re celebrating tourism entrepreneurs across Nova Scotia and the passion they bring to creating memorable visitor experiences. We asked Jessica Kneblewski, owner of Wilson’s Coastal Club what makes working in Nova Scotia’s tourism industry rewarding and about a guest experience that has stayed with them.
What do you find most rewarding about being an entrepreneur in Nova Scotia’s tourism industry?
"For us, it’s making guests feel welcome and cared for. We’re family owned and operated, with a great team working alongside us who help make that possible. Taking the time to stop and chat, hear people’s stories, and listen to their feedback is such an important part of what we do. It’s rewarding to know that the way we treat people becomes part of what they remember about their time in Nova Scotia—and a reason to come back."
Can you tell us about a recent memorable experience with a guest? What made that interaction special for you?
"We have several families who return every year, and we’ve watched their children grow and welcomed new babies along the way. One conversation that stands out was with a family who books several cottages for about a week each year. They told us that what brings them back isn’t just the property or Nova Scotia—it’s how they’re treated and how they feel when they’re here. They always stop by to catch up and celebrate our successes with us, so knowing that our care means as much to them as their support means to us is really special." -Jessica Kneblewski, owner of Wilson's Coastal Club
When care and hospitality are at the heart of the work, visitors notice. Those personal connections can become part of what brings guests back to Nova Scotia year after year.
