Nova Scotia welcomed 127,000 non-resident overnight visitors in April 2019, a decrease of 9%, or 12,600 fewer visitors compared with 2018. In the first four months of 2019, a total of 457,000 people visited the province for at least one night, a decline of 0.4% compared with the same period in 2018.
There was a decline in visitation by both air (-23%) and road (-1%) in April, resulting in a decrease in visitors arriving by air of 8% and an increase of visitors arriving by road of 3% for the year so far.
In April, 163,000 licensed room nights were sold across the province, a decrease of 6% from the same period in 2018. Year-to-date, licensed room nights sold in Nova Scotia of 581,000 are down 1% compared with the same period in 2018.
