On Track To Inspire Travel To Nova Scotia

Thursday, November 5, 2026

Experiencing a destination first-hand can be one of the most powerful ways to tell its story.

This fall, travel media and content creators from international markets arrived in Halifax aboard VIA Rail’s The Ocean as part of Destination Canada’s “In-Between” initiative. The program invited participants to experience Canada through slow travel, connecting the landscapes, communities, people and experiences found along the journey.

The initiative brought together Destination Canada, VIA Rail, Discover Halifax, Tourism Nova Scotia and other partners to help showcase Canadian destinations to international audiences.

For Nova Scotia, travel media visits like this are an important part of building awareness and inspiring future travel. By experiencing the province for themselves, visiting communities, meeting local people and exploring tourism experiences, writers and creators can share authentic Nova Scotia stories with audiences in key markets.

Several participants extended their time in Nova Scotia following the program, travelling beyond Halifax to explore areas including Cape Breton, the South Shore, Wolfville, Truro and Peggy’s Cove.

Through partnerships with organizations such as Destination Canada and Discover Halifax, Tourism Nova Scotia helps bring travel media and creators to the province and connect them with experiences that can generate compelling stories and inspire travellers to discover more of Nova Scotia.
