Tourism Nova Scotia is actively monitoring the novel coronavirus outbreak. Thousands of people have been infected in China, one of our key markets. We are thinking of everyone who has been affected by the virus.
You may be wondering what this outbreak may mean for tourism. It is too early to know how this may impact visitation from China. However, the number of visitors from China is relatively small compared to other markets and Nova Scotia’s tourism industry is in a strong position to withstand challenging circumstances.
Our in-market representative is in close contact with travel agents and tour operators in China, and there continues to be strong interest in the province among Chinese travellers. No cases of coronavirus have been reported in Nova Scotia. The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) continues to assess the risk as low for Canada.
We are staying in close communication with our in-market representative, Destination Canada, and our industry partners to align marketing plans as the situation evolves. If there are any updates, we will share them on the inTouch blog.
