The province is in the process of modernizing the legislation governing accommodation operations in Nova Scotia. The existing Tourist Accommodations Act (TAA), and the requirement for accommodation businesses to be licensed, will be replaced by the new Tourist Accommodations Registration Act (TARA). These new rules and regulations are expected for April 1, 2020.
All currently licensed accommodations operators will receive notice of new rules and regulations.
During this period of transition and until further notice:
• do not renew or remit payment for a 2020-2021 accommodations license
• do not apply for a new accommodations license for 2020-2021
Please continue to watch for updates via Tourism Nova Scotia’s website (tourismns.ca) and inTouch newsletter.
