Following a strong first quarter in 2019, visitation to Nova Scotia softened in May. Nova Scotia welcomed 163,000 non-resident overnight visitors in May 2019, a decrease of 11%, or 19,500 fewer visitors compared with 2018. Year-to-date May, 620,000 non-resident overnight visitors came to the province, down 3% compared to the same period in 2018.
As of the end of May, licensed room nights sold in Nova Scotia of 810,000 are down 2% compared with the same period in 2018.

Much of the visitation to Nova Scotia takes place between June and October. Tourism Nova Scotia is actively promoting the province to travellers in our key markets and raising awareness about the incredible experience our tourism operators offer in the summer and fall, as well as direct flights to Nova Scotia.
