The tourism performance indicators for May are now available at tourismns.ca.
Non-resident visitation to Nova Scotia increased in May 2018, up 4% (7,000 visitors) from May 2017. Visitation by air increased by 15% while visitation by road remained unchanged from last year.
Year-to-date May 2018, Nova Scotia welcomed 640,000 non-resident overnight visitors, an increase of 3% compared with 2017.
In May 2018, licensed room nights sold of 238,000 increased by 4% from the same period in 2017. The occupancy rate remained unchanged at 45%. Notable increases in room nights sold were observed in each of the South Shore, Halifax, and Yarmouth and Acadian Shores regions.
