Nova Scotia welcomed 125,000 non-resident overnight visitors in March 2019, an increase of 4%, or an additional 5,000 visitors compared with March 2018. In the first quarter of 2019, a total of 330,000 people visited the province for at least one night, an increase of 3%, or an additional 10,900 visitors compared with the first three months of 2018.
Visitation by road increased by 5% while visitation by air is unchanged from 2018.
Year-to-date March, licensed room nights sold in Nova Scotia of 419,000 are up 1% compared with the same period in 2018. After exceptional growth in 2018, room nights booked through two leading sharing economy platforms declined by 10% in the first quarter of 2019.
