Introducing the Canada-China Year of Tourism!

Wednesday, April 25, 2018

The governments of Canada and China have declared 2018 as the Canada-China Year of Tourism

China is one of the fastest growing markets for tourism operators in Nova Scotia, and across Canada. In 2016, more than 610,000 Chinese tourists visited Canada, contributing $1.5 billion to our economy. The Government of Canada has set a goal of doubling the number of Chinese tourists coming to Canada by 2021.

Introducing the Canada-China Year of Tourism!

The Canada-China Year of Tourism is a national initiative led by the Government of Canada and Destination Canada. Tourism Nova Scotia is working with these partners and industry operators to capitalize on this opportunity to welcome record numbers of Chinese visitors.

We’ve just announced our new in-market representative for China,  who will deliver a sales and marketing strategy that will inspire Chinese travellers to purchase more Nova Scotia holidays. We’re also offering support to help your business get ready  to serve more Chinese visitors.

Increasing visitation from China is key to achieving the tourism industry’s goal of increasing tourism revenues to $4 billion by 2024. Celebrating the Canada-China Year of Tourism is one of the ways we can showcase what Nova Scotia has to offer Chinese visitors.
