Visitation and accommodation sales show tourism recovery is well underway.
Both visitation and accommodation sales were higher in the first seven months of 2022 compared with last year. While visitation is still below 2019 levels, the gap is narrowing and July showed the strongest recovery in relation to 2019 since the pandemic began. As of July, accommodation sales are up this year compared with the same period in 2019, pre-pandemic.
According to statistics gathered by Tourism Nova Scotia, Nova Scotia welcomed 354,000 non-resident visitors in July 2022, an increase of 221,000 compared with July 2021, and a decline of 28,000 visitors or 7% compared with July 2019.
