Tourism got off to a strong start in the first five months of 2022. Both visitation and accommodation sales were higher from January to May compared with last year. While visitation is still well below pre-pandemic levels, May was the third month in a row that accommodation sales were higher than the same month in 2019.
According to statistics gathered by Tourism Nova Scotia, 141,000 non-resident visitors arrived in Nova Scotia in the month of May 2022, an increase of 129,000 compared with the same month a year earlier, and a decline of 22,000 visitors compared with May 2019.

Nova Scotia accommodations operators report 241,000 room nights sold in May 2022, 180,000 room nights more than in May 2021 and 12,000 more room nights than in May 2019.
