All roofed tourist accommodations (except those in primary residences) and accommodations platforms that operate in Nova Scotia are required to register annually under the Tourist Accommodation Registration Act (TARA).

Registration is now open for 2022/2023 (registration valid from April 1, 2022-March 31, 2023).  The registration deadline has been extended to April 15, 2022.

The registration fee for all roofed accommodations operators will be waived for the 2022/2023 year due to the ongoing impact of COVID-19 on the tourism sector. Please note that the registration fee for accommodations sales platform operators has not been waived.

A TARA registration number is required to participate in Tourism Nova Scotia’s programs and marketing channels, such as NovaScotia.com and the Doers & Dreamers Guide. All roofed accommodations, even if operating in a primary residence, will need to register and provide their TARA registration number to Tourism Nova Scotia to maintain their business listing(s) or enable participation in other Tourism Nova Scotia programming. 

How to Register/Renew

To complete your renewal, you will need to enter your email address and last year’s registration number (ex. RYA2021-0000004532). Complete your renewal at: 
https://accommodations-registry.novascotia.ca/Renewal/BusinessVerification

If you are a new accommodation or have not previously completed your registration, please visit https://beta.novascotia.ca/register-your-tourist-accommodation to register.

Once complete, make note of your new RYA number and send it to novascotia@novascotia.ca.
