Compelling Tourism Communities Programs

Emerging Destinations Program

Tourism Nova Scotia will work with municipalities, chambers of commerce or business associations working to build tourism in their community to determine opportunities to attract travellers to their community during their preferred season (summer, fall or winter), and identify short-term actions to help build awareness of their community in 2023-24.

Selected partners will benefit from:

  • Market research insights and coaching using new community tourism tools and resources to identify and position your most compelling tourism assets;
  • Support to identify short-term actions to help build awareness of your community with travellers;
  • Enhanced content on NovaScotia.com, such as a story or itinerary
  • A travel media/influencer visit to generate new photos and content, such as a social media post to raise awareness of your community.

Content and Digital Marketing Programs for Communities and Tourism Product Clusters

Tourism Nova Scotia will work with communities or product clusters to promote top products and experiences to inspire travellers to visit their communities.
Selected partners will benefit from one or more of the following:

  • New photos or video to highlight your product or community on Tourism Nova Scotia’s channels and partners’ own channels;
  • Inclusion in a press trip for an influencer or journalist to create engaging content about your product or community;
  • A community-focused digital marketing campaign targeting travellers in the Maritime Provinces.

How to Participate

Tourism Nova Scotia invites applications from eligible municipalities, chambers of commerce, business associations, regional marketing organizations or groups of at least five related products who want to market together, such as wineries, cultural attractions, theatres, museums, campgrounds, trails, and events.

You can submit one application to participate in one or more of the Compelling Tourism Communities Programs. If you are selected, we’ll work with you to determine which program will offer the right supports to help you reach your current goals and create a project plan.

Thank you for your interest in this program. The program closed at 4:00pm on Tuesday, May 2, 2023.
