Tuesday, July 9, 2019

The Province of Nova Scotia, Government of Canada, and Municipality of the County of Cumberland are making investments to enhance the tourism experience at the Cape d’Or Coastal Park.

This project, led by the municipality, will deliver on recommended improvements in the Cape d’Or Master Plan, and aligns with the Municipality of the County of Cumberland’s goals to develop and strengthen business opportunities for the region. Phase one of the project includes upgraded parking areas, public washrooms, trail upgrades, and signage.

The province is supporting this project through a $92,000 investment via the Tourism Revitalization of Icons Program, which focuses on revitalizing Nova Scotia’s most competitive tourism icons. The iconic Bay of Fundy, including Cape d’Or, has a high level of recognition nationally and internationally and motivates people to visit the province.

The Government of Canada will contribute $100,000 to project through  the Canadian Experiences Fund (CEF), which supports Canadian businesses and organizations seeking to create, improve or enhance tourism products, facilities and experiences. This investment will be matched on the local level by the Municipality of the County of Cumberland, who will also contribute $100,000.

These infrastructure enhancements will elevate the visitor experience at Cape d’Or and provide new opportunities for tourism operators to create unique experiences to draw visitors to the region.
