Join the Restaurant Association for a Discussion About the Accessibility Act & Changes Coming to Restaurant Facilities

Tuesday, May 4, 2021

The Restaurant Association of Nova Scotia (RANS) invites restaurant owners and operators to join a discussion with Nova Scotia’s Accessibility Directorate about planning for future accessibility standards on Tuesday, May 11.

The outcome of the accessibility standards will have some impacts on the food and beverage sector and will require some rethinking and planning to prepare for some changes required. This is your opportunity to get a better understanding, provide input, and ask any questions that you might have about the Built Environment Standard Development Committee’s recommendations for accessibility standards in the built environment (https://novascotia.ca/accessibility/built-environment/), timelines for built environment standards, and potential impacts for the sector.

As you may be aware, the Accessibility Act was proclaimed in 2017 and recognizes accessibility as a human right and sets a goal of an accessible Nova Scotia by 2030. Recommendations for accessibility standards in the built environment were made public in January 2020. The government is currently reviewing these recommendations and preparing draft accessibility standards for the built environment.

To attend the session on Tuesday, May 11th from 10-11am please RSVP to: Caroline Read Kendell Caroline.ReadKendell@novascotia.ca
