Nova Scotia is well-represented on the new board of directors for the Travel Media Association of Canada (TMAC).
Donna Hatt is the newly appointed Chief Administration Officer of TMAC! Donna will be responsible for the organization’s finances and marketing, working directly with the board, organizing the annual general meeting, and the website and marketing for the TMAC Conference and Marketplace.
As a not-for-profit organization, TMAC is directed by a volunteer board of directors. There is a total of nine directors, the vice president and the president. In addition to Donna, Nova Scotia is also represented by Pam Wamback, Travel Media Specialist at Tourism Nova Scotia who joined the board at the annual general meeting on June 17, and Darcy Rhyno, a freelance journalist from Lockeport, who is in his second year on the board.
Pam Wamback has previously chaired the Atlantic Canada chapter of TMAC and is currently the secretary for the chapter – a small but mighty group of 25 media and industry representatives.
TMAC represents Canada’s most professional and productive experts in the field of travel. The Association currently has almost 400 members consisting of Canadian writers, photographers, videographers, bloggers, and social media mavens, as well as highly respected representatives of the travel industry from across Canada and around the world.
Each year, TMAC members gather for an ambitious and wide-ranging annual conference to exchange story ideas, explore new destinations, and keep up to date on skills, trends, and techniques. Most importantly, industry partners showcase their destinations at the Media Marketplace, a scheduled one-on-one networking session that brings together industry and media members.
We are excited that the Yarmouth and Acadian Shores Tourism Association was chosen to host the 2022 TMAC Conference & Marketplace in Southwest Nova Scotia, June 22-26, 2022. This will be in first in-person event for TMAC since June 2019 and the event is already generating a lot of buzz and we expect to set an attendance record next year! Pam is a member of the hosting committee responsible for working with TMAC to organize the on-the-ground components of the conference that will showcase Southwest Nova Scotia.
This is an incredible opportunity for the region and the province to showcase to travel writers, content creators and other industry travel experts what Southwest Nova Scotia has to offer. The conference will highlight the people, places, culture and cuisine of the region and give participants and chance to explore and fall in love with this place.
Congratulations to all of the new members of the TMAC board. We look forwarding to seeing you all in Nova Scotia next year!
