Last fall, Parks Canada’s canteen and washroom facility at the Ingonish Beach’s day-use area in Cape Breton Highlands National Park was lost to fire. To ensure Parks Canada can provide quality food service to visitors for the upcoming season, they are inviting proposals for the provision of a mobile food and beverage truck vendor at Ingonish Beach day-use area. Parks Canada is seeking to enter into a licence agreement beginning June 24, with a weekly schedule of Thursday to Monday and ending on September 13, 2021.
The minimum hours of operation would be from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily. The successful vendor would pay a licence fee to Parks Canada for the right to sell food and beverages. The licence fee will be a minimum of $500 or a percentage of gross revenue, whichever is greater, for the operating season. Parks Canada recognizes that Cape Breton Highlands National Park is an important part of the local economy, and is committed to helping grow tourism opportunities in the area. Parks Canada asks those interested in the opportunity to provide this type of service in the spectacular setting of Ingonish Beach to reach out to Laura.Strong@canada.ca. The deadline to submit proposals is Wednesday, April 7, 2021.
Visitor and employee safety are of the utmost importance to Parks Canada. The successful vendor would also have to comply with all Nova Scotia Covid-19 measures, which may apply to their operation in addition to any requirements described to them in writing by Parks Canada.
