The new Patio Lanterns Festival is a Nova Scotia-wide initiative to bring musical activity and live performances to patios, streets, and indoor or outdoor public spaces across the province throughout the summer and fall months. The festival, which runs July 15 – October 11, also aims to support local musicians and artists by providing them access to performance venues throughout the province. The festival includes five pop-up stages where people can enjoy performances for free at participating outdoor venues.
Businesses in Nova Scotia can sign up to have a listing on the Patio Lanterns Festival landing page with a Patio Lanterns “offer” such as a food or drink special, a fun game, or festive summer décor. Funding is also available to businesses to host live music performances.
Live Music Funding
Funding opportunities are available for businesses who are interested in hosting live music performances this summer and fall. The deadline to apply is Friday, July 16 at 5pm.
The funding program is open to businesses/venues that provide live music as part of their customer attraction strategy. This may include bars, cafes, restaurants, and other types of business (patio is not required). Grant recipients will only receive funding for shows scheduled between July 15 and October 11, 2021.
Based on your business location, you can apply for funding through your respective region’s destination marketing organization (DMO). For example, if you are a business in the Halifax Region, you will apply through Discover Halifax. If you are a business in Pictou, you will apply through Destination Eastern and Northumberland Shores (DEANS).
