Partnership with Food Network Showcases Nova Scotia's Outstanding Culinary Experiences

June 24, 2019

This summer, Tourism Nova Scotia is teaming up with Food Network Canada to showcase Nova Scotia's outstanding culinary scene on a brand-new show, Big Food Bucket List.

In this original series from Corus Studios, John Catucci host of You Gotta Eat Here!, will take viewers along as he checks the most buzz-worthy culinary stops off his bucket list.

Tourism Nova Scotia joins as a sponsor for three episodes this season, providing Mr. Catucci with restaurant recommendations for dishes that highlight Nova Scotia's culinary culture and connection to the sea.

"Nova Scotia is rightly earning a reputation as a culinary hotspot, and we can't wait to showcase the amazing things happening here to motivate visitors to come taste for themselves," said Joann Fitzgerald, chief marketing officer, Tourism Nova Scotia.

The sponsorship also includes ads airing during the show and digital advertising on, including a homepage takeover on the show's website and social media promotion.

The stops include:

  • Sugar Moon Farm, Earltown, Colchester Co., featuring pancakes made with local, red fife flour topped with wild blueberries, and Sugar Moon's own sticky maple syrup. Episode 11 airing on June 28 at 10 p.m.
  • The Canteen, Dartmouth, featuring Digby scallops and the Crobster - chock full of tender lobster meat and succulent snow crab. Episode 12 airing June 28 at 10:30 p.m.
  • King of Donair, Halifax, featuring the traditional tastes and spices of the original King of Donair recipe - perfected in 1973. Episode 14 airing on July 5 at 10:30 p.m.

"At The Canteen, we take a tremendous amount of pride in transforming local products into mouth-watering dishes. It's for this reason that it's so exciting to have the opportunity to showcase Nova Scotia's incredible culinary products to an audience outside of the province," said Renée Lavallée, co-owner and head chef. "We had a blast filming this show and showing John why Nova Scotia is truly bucket list worthy."

Viewers can visit to learn more about the series, find featured restaurants through an interactive map, exclusive recipes, behind the scenes content, and watch full episodes after broadcast.
