The Bluenose II is joining a fleet of tall ships in the Tall Ships Challenge Great Lakes race this summer. Nova Scotia’s sailing ambassador will visit 10 ports in Ontario and the United States, offering deck tours and leading in some parades of sail.
Knowing this iconic schooner will be a big attraction during the port festivals, Tourism Nova Scotia teamed up with the Bluenose II crew to take advantage of the opportunity to promote Nova Scotia as a vacation destination to festival goers.
At each port, a mobile exhibit is set up alongside the Bluenose II sharing history and facts about the vessel. As people join the queue to pass through the exhibit and board the ship, they are greeted with a sign showcasing other Nova Scotia icons like Peggy’s Cove and the Cape Breton Highlands National Park and encouraged to visit NovaScotia.com to plan their trip. In addition, the mobile exhibit is being towed to each port by a Nova Scotia.com/Bluenose II co-branded truck.
Seeing the Bluenose II is an exciting way for people in some of our target markets to get a glimpse of Nova Scotia’s maritime heritage. We hope this partnership will encourage them to come experience it for themselves.
