New TripAdvisor Widget Uses Customer Reviews to Encourage Travellers along the Path to Purchase

Wednesday, August 15, 2018

To help elevate the overall competitiveness of Nova Scotia’s tourism industry, we’re introducing a new widget on our consumer website that will link business listings on NovaScotia.com with customer reviews and ratings on TripAdvisor.

Travellers are looking for peer ratings to help inform their decisions about where to stay, where to eat and what to do while on vacation. The TripAdvisor widget is an opportunity to highlight customer feedback about experiences with our industry partners, and encourage more travellers to make a purchase.

TripAdvisor WidgetThe widget displays the business’s TripAdvisor rating and links to the page where visitors can read reviews and learn more about the business.

With 455 million monthly visitors, TripAdvisor can help you reach more potential customers. Managing an effective TripAdvisor page and responding thoughtfully to reviews is a great way to build your online reputation.

Customers can create a listing for your business just by submitting a review. Even if you aren’t using TripAdvisor in your marketing, your business may already be listed and gathering reviews. Claiming the listing will allow you to respond to reviews and take advantage of TripAdvisor’s free promotional tools

The TripAdvisor widget has been added to novascotia.com for businesses already taking advantage of this opportunity.  We encourage you to create or claim a free listing on TripAdvisor and submit the identification number for your TripAdvisor page to TNS so the widget can be added to your listing on our website.  You can provide your ID on your travel guide registration form or by email to novascotia@novascotia.com.

Beginning on January 31, 2019, all accommodations and campgrounds will be required to have a TripAdvisor page in order to be listed on NovaScotia.com and to be included in the 2020 Doers & Dreamers Guide.

To help answer questions about the new widget and TripAdvisor listings, we’ve created a resource page on tourismns.ca.  If you have additional questions about the new widget, please e-mail novascotia@novascotia.ca.

You can find help documents and information about how to optimize your listing on TripAdvisor Insights.
